My roommate is gay, and while he's not flamboyant, he is 'obvious', if you get my meaning, and he would be the first to admit that for many of those qualities you list, it is "so true".

I only picked the liberal and fun ones. Basically it's just based on my experience with gay men who were either a. out enough to let me know they are gay or b. my friends.

I'm far more liberal than some of those men, but I've never met a batshit crazy conservative gay man. I'm sure they exist. I'm also sure there are gay men who are no fun at all. In fact, during my years going to gay clubs and bars I know there were many gay men I had no interest in hanging out with, but the ones I liked were much more fun than your typical straight man.

I assume males in my program are gay by default, because it's unofficially known as the "gay program", and as Planning is a liberal institution, it is assumed that all planners are liberal (which is true). So I picked "is liberal" only. A lot of them fit many of those stereotypes. Most don't have lisps.

I am still trying to work out whats so gay about town planning. I used to go drinking with the town planners at university, they were kind of up themselves... is it just Canadian Town Planners?

Planning Haus is the gayest school at this university, as the majority of the programs are related to engineering or accounting or science. It's "artsy" compared to everything else.

Unfortunately, planners here are kind of stuck up, especially when we're made to take stupid courses like field ecology - it's like "why the fuck do I have to take this bullshit" in front of people who are actually majoring in ecology.

LOL! Well the building I was in was shared with the furniture design, interior design and art students, with just the architects and town planners at one end so we were the less gay end of the building. A lot of architects in my class were lesbians, come to mention it, even the tutor.

I once had an argument with one guy at a rugby match that town planners were better as they got to tell architects what to do.
